Our Motivation
-
Global Context: Climate and energy crisis, emphasis on energy efficiency
-
Local Context: Taiwan's heavy reliance on imported fossil fuels and nuclear phaseout + ambitious goals for Net-Zero by 2050 -> energy efficiency is vital, even on an individual level
-
Personal Context: Visit to the 2025 Smart City Summit & Expo, focusing on Net Zero Cities and taking inspiration from the many tools for energy monitoring and management.
-
Awareness: "information gap", traditional feedback (e.g. utility bills) provide delayed and aggregated information, which is useless for day-to-day behavior change
-
Cost barriers: infrastructure improvement is expensive and not feasible for individuals and SMEs. Emphasis should be on how technology is used, rather than what technology is used
Our Story
We’re a close team of five engineering students working on a Smart Power Meter to track energy use in homes and factories. One of us installs the voltage and current sensors, and two handle the software to send data to a cloud server. Wi-Fi, one keeps our GitHub tidy, and another makes our presentations and website pop. Imagine us in the lab, high-fiving when energy stats show up online. We want to help people save power and money, even with tricky sensor fixes. We’re not just students—we’re a crew building a better, greener world, one reading at a time.
At Smart Power Meter, we are dedicated to providing high-quality smart meters and energy monitoring solutions. Our mission is to help households and businesses optimize their energy usage, reduce costs, and contribute to a sustainable future.
